20/01/2018 Journey

Children have written some wonderfully descriptive pieces, inspired by the beautiful illustrations within ‘Journey’.

20/10/17 Our Ancient Egyptian Museum opens

We were really excited to be able to invite Year 6’s parents in to see the culmination of this half-term’s work with the Grand Opening of our Ancient Egyptian Museum. Our first (and, unfortunately, only) visitors were able to see our work on Egyptian writing, Gods and Goddesses, why the Nile was so important to the Ancient Egyptians and also perused some Ancient Egyptian artefacts. The highlight of the afternoon, however, was when we mummified a couple of our pupils, as well as some oranges which we’d been preserving in the same way that the Ancient Egyptians preserved their dead bodies.

08/09/17  Welcome back Year 6!

It’s been a really enjoyable few days getting to know Year 6 and seeing how enthusiastic they are in their approach to their learning here at Fernhill. We are raring to go with our topic work this term – Ancient Egypt – and we are looking forward to inviting our parents in to see our Egyptian museum at the end of the half term. We will keep you updated as the term progresses.
